NHS Lewisham is proposing to transfer its provider services arm (Lewisham PCT Community Health Services) to Lewisham Hospital NHS Trust.
The CCP will examine the costs and benefits of the proposed merger under its merger guidelines to assess whether it could be expected to have an adverse effect on patients and/or taxpayers.
In doing so, the CCP will consider the effect of the transaction on patient choice and competition for community or secondary health services in Lewisham, South-East London or a wider area.
The CCP would welcome submissions in writing from interested individuals and organisations on this issue or on any other matter relevant to the CCP's assessment of this transaction under the Principles and Rules of Cooperation and Competition. To submit evidence please email Lewisham@ccpanel.gsi.gov.uk.
The closing date for submissions is 26 October 2009.
