South Birmingham PCT provider services arm (South Birmingham Community Health), Heart of Birmingham PCT provider services arm (HOBt Community Services) and Birmingham East and North PCT provider services arm (BEN Community Health Services) are proposing to merge. South Birmingham Community Health will act as host to the community services presently provided by HOBt Community Services and BEN Community Health Services.
Consistent with its draft interim merger guidelines, the CCP will examine the costs and benefits of the proposed merger to patients and taxpayers, in order to ascertain whether the transaction is consistent with Principles 9 and 10 of the Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition. In doing so, the CCP will consider the effect of the transaction on patient choice and competition for health services in Birmingham or a wider area.
