Outer North East London Community Services (ONEL) and North East London NHS Foundation Trust (NELFT) are proposing to merge.
Consistent with its draft interim merger guidelines, the CCP will examine the costs and benefits of the proposed merger to patients and taxpayers, in order to ascertain whether the transaction is consistent with Principles 9 and 10 of the Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition.* In doing so, the CCP will consider the effect of the transaction on patient choice and competition for community health services in North East London, or a wider area.
The CCP welcomes submissions in writing from interested individuals and organisations on this issue or any other matter relevant to the CCP’s assessment of this transaction under the Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition. To submit evidence please use the email address: cases@ccpanel.gsi.gov.uk.
The closing date for submissions is 15 October 2010.
* From 1 October 2010 the revised Principles and Rules for Cooperation and Competition will apply. However, we will consider this application for CCP review under the version of the Principles and Rules valid on the date of the Notice of Acceptance for this case.
